Early Childhood Educational Center

New Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten:  a new $7.8 million Early Childhood Educational Center with 21 classes to be built and staffed by the Jersey City Public Schools to serve the existing and new families in the revitalized areas.

Classes will be open to all children in the Morris Canal/Lafayette Park neighborhood and will reflect the mixed-income characteristics of the revitalized area.

 

After School Program

Tutorial and recreational program for children at the revitalized and new developments, five days a week, 4 hours a day, resident staffed.  Includes a DARE component and access to programs and sports activities at the local Boys and Girls Club.

A Children's Computer Learning Room will be incorporated into the current After School Tutorial and Recreational Program.  Volunteer college interns will give one-on-one instruction.

 

Girl Scouts

Recent agreement with the Essex County Girl Scouts of America established a program for young girls at the revitalized and new developments (operated recently at Curries Woods HOPE VI site).
