Early Childhood Educational Center

New Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten:
a new $7.8 million Early Childhood Educational Center with 21 classes to be built and
staffed by the Jersey City Public Schools to serve the existing and new families in the
revitalized areas. |

Classes will be open to all children in the
Morris Canal/Lafayette Park neighborhood and will reflect the mixed-income
characteristics of the revitalized area. |
After School Program
 |
Tutorial and recreational program for
children at the revitalized and new developments, five days a week, 4 hours a day,
resident staffed.
Includes a DARE component and access to programs and sports activities at the local Boys
and Girls Club. |

A Children's Computer Learning Room will be
incorporated into the current After School Tutorial and Recreational Program.
Volunteer college interns will give one-on-one instruction. |
Girl Scouts
 |
Recent agreement with the Essex County Girl
Scouts of America established a program for young girls at the revitalized and new
developments (operated recently at Curries Woods HOPE VI site). |
